Hennepin Lake Tasting 2018; 10/11/2018-10/14/2018 (Minneapolis, MN): Really enjoyable wine. I have never tasted their Cab. Blueberries, cherry, smoke, mild oak and floral notes. Very elegant wine overall and no over the top oak usage. I would highly recommend this wine.

Dark blue and red fruit - blueberry, currants, and dark cherry. Smooth mid-palate with decent depth. Solid finish but I believe it could use another 6 to 12 months for the fruit to open-up a little more on the back-end. Decanted for one hour and drank over another three. Improved a little with time. I believe more or less in line with Galloni's 93 rating with a little more time. Sourced 80% from Broken Rock Vineyard (Atlas Peak) and 20% Beckstoffer Las Piedras. Decent QPR at $60 but interesting that the winery direct price is $80.

Currant, toasted bread and lacquer aromas on the nose. Full, hot, dry and gripping palate. Marked alcohol and tannin on the finish.
3.5/5
