  • Nice wine. Good kick. Good fruit. Went extremely well with bow-tie pasta dish. Very nice.

  • A little flabby to me. Hints of peppery and earthy flavors, but not a wine I would buy again.

  • Nothing bad, nothing good. Not dumpable but not that much fun to drink either. Very flat and boring.

  • More earthy than fruity. A little tannic even on the front of the palette. The finish was a little smoother than the first taste hints at. Overall, mediocre. But, hey, it was under $10.

  • 84/100-
COLOR: 5/5 - Nice, opaque raspberry tinted color.
NOSE: 10/15 - VERY TIGHT upon uncapping. After a few hours the asparagus & bacon start coming in with a little bit of tobacco and, unfortunately, alcohol.
FLAVOR: 7/10 - Very much a temperature-dependant wine (cooler is better). Somewhat mushroomy and dirty, but with astringent qualities that become progressively more apparent as the wine pushes toward room temperature. Much more drinkable at cellar temp.
FINISH: 7/10 - Something between a bittersweet chocolate and sour cherry finish. Definitely a very dry, tannic finish that lingers.
POTENTIAL: 3/5 - This has the mouthfeel of a wine that will be better later than it is now. Hedging my bets that 6 mos from now this will be a bit more integrated and have calmed down a bit.
OVERALL: 2/5 - Right now I'd call this an okay/good drink. The balance just isn't there right now to recommend this one. Flavor is best right as it's opened, but the nose is completely absent. Once the nose comes in, the wine starts going through a tough phase where the flavor is fairly tart. Potential + Overall together as 5/10 pretty well sum it up. Still a good wine with a lot of potential at its price.
