Champagne & Chardonnay WIMPS, September 2022 (La Trompette, London): Bright, richer, more oxidative end of the spectrum. A bit reticent initially and took a bit to come out of its shell. However, the wait was rewarded with rich summer fruits, nuts and brioche. Performed a lot better with the tart than the canapé preceding it.

Youthful nose showing minerals, flowers and acacia honey accompanied by an amenable palate with typical vintage soft acidity and a lighter and more easy going taste. Long and refined finish without so much intensity as some other vintages show. Still, it feels like it will be pleasing and available already and for another decade. Best 2019-2024.

(Disgorged in fall of 2015) Very light yellow colour with a stream of fine and tiny bubbles that lead way to a wonderful nose showing hazelnuts, chalks, minerals and herbs in a very youthful style. Fruity palate showing youthful acidity and a creamy mousse that leads to the very long and bitter lemon peel finish. Wonderful expression. As so many other 2009's this cuvée is more of elegance than power on the palate with a well played orchestra of flavours balancing off each other in a perfect way. I think this cuvée will develop very nicely with extra cellar time, and will feel youthfully tight for many years to come. Very nice already, with a long life ahead. Best 2019-2034.

Bright and energetic but also on the richer and evolved side, round and giving with lots of palate presence and nice finish. Great aperitif for those looking for a richer wine, 90-91

By the glass at Little Social, London. A bit warm, a bit flat, a bit flabby. Disappointing but more about the way it was served than anything else.
