By far the surprise of the tasting, this Ygrec proved conclusively how brilliantly white Bordeaux can age - and it isn’t even from the tenderloin district of Pessac. Pale to medium yellow and nicely fragrant of yellow stone fruits and long on the palate. The usual waxy odor and texture of the Pessac versions of the genre is nowhere to be found; it’s just about clean fruit. Fairly delicate but not feeble. Very easy to like for both connoisseurs and non-fanatics.

What an interesting wine, completely different from a younger vintage I tried last year. Nose was honey, hazelnut, and some grass clippings. Body shows noticeable alcohol and botrytis fruit, with medium/balanced acidity. It coats your mouth, and leaves a lingering long finish that is probably the most pleasant part of the wine. Not something i'd buy and stock up on, but it is fun to try once in a while..

Richter Raritäten Vol.VII (Magnums only) (Farnsburg): From two regular bottles. A different animal from younger Y, as they matured the dry wine in used Yquem barrels back then. This leads to a richer more opulent wine with a touch sweetness. Absolutely no sign of old age or oxidation or the like. This just drinks perfectly well

What a unique wine. Smoke and Bacon in the nose. You guess now comes a sweet wine and then ..... totally dry with huge body and a lot of caracter. Spicy minerals and a few yellow fruits. Long finish. Never think of 34 years old !!!! This is mady for the ages. No hurry. Amazing !!!

Lanolin and white flower and richness. Full and powerful, still alive and really quite wonderful. Just a bit medicinal and reductive.
