Drunk in memory of Denis Durantou. Truffly (or porciniesque?) nose, still firm on body but round and smooth, medium-weight, with spicy red fruits. A lovely, classic, old-style Pomerol. Begins to slowly fade after 2-1/2 hours in the decanter. Cellared since original release.

Buttery, corn, red grapes and rocks bouquet. Smooth, grassy, blueberries, green pepper and cedar palate. Warm with flattish earth, pencil aftertaste. Drink now; feel it is slightly past it’s prime

This wine was sensational from cask in 1989. It's taken it's time to come around, but tonight showed its stuff -- sealing wax, dark fruits, sensual texture with structure -- that's one reason why they call Pomerol the Burgundy of Bordeaux. Cellared since original release.
