Blind White Tasting with Top 2000 White Burgundy (Les Nomades - Chicago IL): This was one of the two impressive wines in the flight, both turning out to be Meursault 2000 Charmes, the other from Henri Boillot. This was moderately ripe, lean and incredibly elegant with great and overall textures. Good now, even if I enjoyed the Boillot slightly more today, but this will be more interesting going forward.
Light yellow-silver gold. Nose is wow....honeyed, very Mersault and lots of weight; beautiful rich honeysuckle. Palate is big...big...rounded, buttery just maybe a bit foursquare. Big resonance in the head. A very big wine. Alcoholic, intrusively so. It needed the couple of hours prior decanting it had received but still too heavy for me.
Burgundy with Dinner (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Consumed over 3 hours with dinner. Started at cellar temperature, gradually came to room temp. Opulent and ripe orchard fruit flavors and aromas, plenty of sweet spice and roasted nuts. Very fat and alluring to start, seemed to get a little shorter when open 2+ hours.
