Brought by my daughter for a little birthday celebrating after a recent trip to Virginia. This is a nice sparkler especially given the price. It is bone dry with little of the big florals often associated with Viognier but still quite pleasant to drink. Bright weight yellow with very fine bubbles and just a little yeastiness. Light to medium weight on the palate with some citrus and orchard fruits. Fairly short aftertaste but all in all a nice wine to try.

Pre-gaming at Virginia Wine Chat, we had an opportunity to taste this unique sparkler, aka Dom Virginian. Made in the Methode Champenoise, it’s a Brut style bubbly with Virginia personality. It reminded me of Cava, only a little more expensive, and with a decidedly tropical bend (hello, Viognier). Fun, fun stuff! Retail = $25.

Really nice sparkler. Different, has a moderate body, with good fruit, nice minerality, light yeastiness with moderate acidity. Light bitterness, but overall quite nice.

(NV Horton Vineyards Viognier Sparkling) Very light yellow color with an abundance of tiny bubbles; tart green apple, tart citrus nose; tasty, refreshing, tart citrus, very tart apple, lime, chalk palate, reminiscent of a good cava, but with little Viognier character; medium finish 88+ points (left on lees for 7 years)

Bought while visiting the winery in October. A lovely sparkler to ring in the new year, just a nice easy drinker.

Rhone Rangers DC (Longview Gallery - Washington, DC): Peachy, very floral, simple, fun, a bit yeasty but mostly driven by fruit and floral elements. Cava-like but more tropical and floral.
