Tasted by alandf on 4/2/2008 & rated 88 points: Decent, but no #72. Fairly balanced for this price, with nice fruit and spice. (1455 views)
Tasted by mmmschneid on 3/16/2008 & rated 88 points: For a $10.00 bottle of wine you could not ask for more. It was not as spicy as some of the Aussie Shirazs that are out there but it was very drinkable. (1427 views)

Tasted by marcb7 on 2/22/2008 & rated 88 points: I still like this, its a fruit bomb with some spice notes, better after some air gets to it, but for 10 bucks, very worthy. (1613 views)
Tasted by danseng on 1/22/2008: This got a little better with some air, but still nowhere near a 90 point wine. Too much fake fruit and disjointed alcohol. (1931 views)

Tasted by brythephotoguy on 1/5/2008 & rated 84 points: Nose and tasting is consistent with Seanr7, and I must agree with many of the previous notes. This to me is a typical low end Aussie Shiraz and is not a 90 point wine. (1950 views)
Tasted by MichaelF on 12/18/2007 & rated 88 points: I can't justify the WS 90 point rating (My palate never agrees with Harvey Steiman), however this is a good effort for yellow tail. Nice, peppery blackberry, vanilla, big tannins. Certainly a good QPR. (2161 views)
Tasted by Seanr7 on 12/8/2007 & rated 87 points: Bought this wine because of the dust-up over being number 72 in the Wine Spectator Top 100. I have had Yellow Tail one time in my life and swore I would never try it again. Well I am glad i gave it one more chance. Dark reddish purple color, the nose is vanilla and blackberry. Not complex but this wine has a nice mouth feel, sweet cherry, blackberry with a hint of pepper on the 10 second finish. I will warn against just a pop and pour as I tried that at first and was really disapointed, came back two hours later and did the "Shake" method and there was a big difference. All in all a good wine worth the $10-$12 this is going for. (2264 views)

Tasted by kageorgi on 11/25/2007 & rated 87 points: The last time I tried a bottle of Yellow Tail Shiraz, it was dreadful. So bad, in fact, that it went down the drain. I happened to notice this YT reserve at number 72 on Wine Spectator's list of Top 100 wines. My curiosity was peaked . . . either YT is doing something bloody brilliant or someone at WS is smoking dope. I laid out the cash -- all $10 of it and tried it last night against an $18 Aussie Shiraz. And although I thought the $18 Shiraz was more complex, the YT wasn't bad. Not bad at all. I don't know if I'm on board with the WS score of 91, but for $10, I'd buy a few bottles to store in the cellar. Inky in color with strong blueberry on the nose. Flavors of dark fruit -- stewed plums, raisins, spice. Decent finish, too. Salud! (2286 views)
Tasted by marcb7 on 11/21/2007 & rated 91 points: very good after decanting for about 1hr, opened up nicely, nice long finish (2243 views)
Tasted by yonster24 on 9/27/2007 & rated 87 points: Definite hints of Coco and Vanilla on the nose. Nice fruity tannins with a berry flavor on the palate. Decent wine. (2432 views)
Tasted by Capt M on 9/11/2007 & rated 84 points: Artificial and sugarfied in flavor profile. (2443 views)
Tasted by dre on 6/14/2007: Clear, dark opeque core leading out to a vibrant purple rim. Wine looks young and concentrated. ON the nose it's clean, intense ripe dark fruits, a bit of coco and its showing quite hot. The palate is dry, med acid with low soft fruity tannins, big fruit intesity of plums, prune and dark berries. A good dose of oak is also in here. some vanilla and cinamon notes as well. Medium + body. Medium fruit forward finnish. This wine is less than riviting, barely any tannins and a flavor best described as oaked cough syrop. Drink this now, it will not age gracefuly. Color: 5/5 -- Beautful dark red/maroon. Almost Petite Sirah dark.
Nose: 11/15 -- Nose is pretty full, blackberry jam, chocolate. Alcohol is apparent though.
Flavor: 7/10 -- Flavor is good. Very extracted, deep berry flavors. The alcohol found on the nose really wasn't noticable on the palate.
Finish: 7/10 -- Subsides nicely from the palate. Finish isn't dramatic, but there's chocolate berries, maybe with some coffee thrown in.
Potential: 5/10 -- While I like this wine, it did somewhat take a dive 24h later. Not overtly tannic, this is a 'drink soon' wine. It's a decent Shiraz. My 'gut rating' was 88 pts, but the sum of the parts don't quite make that grade. (3072 views)
Tasted by shiraz guy on 3/19/2007 & rated 78 points: This is not a good bottle of wine. The color is impressively dark, and the nose is satisfactory. However, the big problem with thsi one was the finish. It tasted like I was drinking Vick's cherry nyquil cough syrup, and aa lot of it. Everything up to that point was good, possibly even rating an 87-88, but the finish is absolutely horrible. (2635 views)
