| Community Tasting Notes (average 87.7 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 8 notes) | | | Tasted by peetee on 8/25/2009 & rated 89 points: maturing brick colour on rim, pungent bordeaux aromas of cherry, dried fruits, cassis and wood with a fairly concentrated red berry taste with hints of truffle and orange peel acidity. A very pleasant wine which is probably at its best now, although the acidity may keep it going for 5 years or so. Good value at c.£30 but not sure that it adds much to the large number of bordeaux blend wines - if tasted blind I would have put this as a mature st julien from an average vintage - so good value but not distinctive. Still drinking very well. Intense nose showing ripe currants and some 'juicey' raisins (as opposed to dried pruney ones), some herbs but nothing prominent. Had a good finish although slightly acidic. (1463 views) |
