Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 87.7 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 8 notes)

Tasted by peetee on 8/25/2009 & rated 89 points: maturing brick colour on rim, pungent bordeaux aromas of cherry, dried fruits, cassis and wood with a fairly concentrated red berry taste with hints of truffle and orange peel acidity. A very pleasant wine which is probably at its best now, although the acidity may keep it going for 5 years or so. Good value at c.£30 but not sure that it adds much to the large number of bordeaux blend wines - if tasted blind I would have put this as a mature st julien from an average vintage - so good value but not distinctive.  Tasted by bluevespa on 4/15/2009 & rated 87 points: This italian bordeaux blend is good, but not balanced. (505 views)
Tasted by TDV on 2/21/2009 & rated 92 points: (375 views)
Tasted by caldwell on 12/14/2008: Handsome, wood-spiced Italian Cab. Drinking fine today from magnum. (482 views)
Tasted by La Grappe on 6/9/2008 & rated 86 points: Full flavoured, rich, slightly spicy with attractive Bordeaux blend fruit, underpinned by a typical Italian acidity. Still drinking very well. (512 views)
Tasted by pontac on 4/21/2007 & rated 84 points: VWTC - Treasures of the Austro-Hungarian Empire with Paul Mappleback (Verulam Wine TastingClub - St Albans - www.vwtc.org): Dense dark black, good balance of fruit/tannins/acids -- nice Bordeaux blend coming unbalanced on finish as acids come to fore and become sour (1023 views)
Tasted by pontac on 12/2/2006 & rated 85 points: WWS - Welwyn Wine Society - Annual Wine Fair (Woolmer Green Village Hall): Pleasant mature Bordeaux styled wine (1256 views)
Tasted by Wrighty on 3/1/2006 & rated 91 points: From such a small list (of half bottles) at Cipriani's in HK was pleased with this. Intense nose showing ripe currants and some 'juicey' raisins (as opposed to dried pruney ones), some herbs but nothing prominent. Had a good finish although slightly acidic. (1463 views)
