Apart from it's spectacular value, Monastrell is, I guess, not to everyone’s taste… however, cellar time has been good to this vintage.
Deep & delicious, with aromas of figs, coffee, & chocolate.
Dark cherry, meaty, with baked fruits & dark chocolate on the palate. It must be sipped though - that heady 15% will creep up on you… fortified wine style, you know?
This warming red was a big hit at our recent Spanish tasting – at its best served with a spicy paella or a mild curry.

Big bold fruit forward wine. Dark plum colour. Pleasant nose. Cherry and plum notes. A tad syrupy, and there is still a bit of a burn on the finish from the 15% abv, which will likely dissipate with additional cellaring. Seems more new world than old world. Not a daily drinker, but something that may be worth slotting into the rotation.

Eðalklúbbur, vínsmakk #1 haust 2019 (Bólstaðarhlíð 29): Frekar dökkt á litinn. Mjög hvöss og ágeng lykt. Græn tannín, paprika í byrjun. Síðan öskubakki, leysiefni, tjara. Á tungunni frekar mikil stemma í byrjun. Lítill ávöxtur. Tóbaksbragð, lakkrís, einiber, krækiber. Svipað að gæðum og Remelluri. Remelluri samt miklubetri kaup. Kostar rétt rúmlega helming af Casa.

Tät djupröd färg. Doft av ceder, blyert och fat. Mycket sträv.

Tasted at VIWF 2018 and was blown away!
From bush vines over sixty years of age, planted at 700m altitude and on stony, sandy soils - comes this layered Monastrell from Yecla.
Perfumed violets, wild blackberry and anise is textured with peppercorns, tobacco, flighting meaty notes, and a drying, earthy, grip of tannins.
There is a noticeable astringent wood on the finish (sixteen months in oak here), but complex throughout - time in the cellar is required.
