Surprisingly sweet compared to the 2014. Well into off-dry territory but still balanced. Needs more age to show those classic Riesling characteristics but still quite nice as a baseline taste of this wine in this vintage.

Quite enjoyable. Aromas of stonefruit, wet gravel, and a faint whiff of rubber. Initially the sweetness hits the palate, but peach, nectarine, grapefruit, and flowers quickly come through. Clean finish.

Good but simple. A notch less compelling than previous bottles, came across as flatter and less acidic. Maybe just in a closed down state per other reviews. Or maybe because it didn't compare well to a great Spatlese we had a couple nights before. Either way, will wait a while before opening another.

Despite many recent TNs with noting this seems a bit closed, I figured my pedestrian palate wouldn't care and it would be rather enjoyable. Rather not. Palate weight and sweetness feels more Spaetlese in nature, and the fruit, while there, is a bit monolithic and boring. I was also surprised that the acidity and minerality were rather muted. This is clearly a well-made wine, but seemingly closed. Hopefully this can make a rebound in say, 5-8 years. Very Good. Edit: Revisited this 5 days later and it is much better, with fruit on the front palate, some prominent acid on the back that balances the fruit, and finishing with a nice wash of minerals. Bodes well for the future. On this day it was Excellent.

great Kabinett, not overconcentrated, good acidtic backbone to accompany the sweetness, balanced with only little signs of age, exotic fruit
