  • Decanted after the first sip for an hour, gettting rid of the depot. Pristine nose, a whole garden full of flowers, sweet and a bit green at the same time - impressive, could not get enough of it.
But on the palate this seems not as open as in the nose, although it is excellent now - a lot of red and a bit blueberry fruit, roses, orange peel, sweet and full, a wonderful, light creaminess, quite some length. Perfect wine, enjoyed every sip. Considering it is still a bit tannic and has a lot of backbone this will go for another five years.

  • Good, open nose with rose, violets and fennel. High accidity, but not more than expected from a barolo. Mature tannins. The wine is drinking good at the moment, but there is no hurry.

The wine did not match the food (raindeer filet) as well as I had hoped (We had a bottle of Domain de Chevalier 1999 to a similar dish some months ago, and that was superior).

  • Delicious barolo. This wine had a lightly aged characteristic, but was still nicely tannic and attacked the palate sharply. Beautiful, unique fruit that coats your entire mouth.

  • Dinner at L'Unita (L'Unita, Toronto, Canada): Medium-garnet colour. Aromas of roses, violets/potpourri, sandalwood, orange rind. Medium-full bodied, with truffles, orange rind, and dried dark fruit. Moderate-long finish, ~35-40s, with dark fruit and tar. Needs 3-5 years to hit its peak, but this is fantastic stuff. Drink 2010-2020.

  • All olive with a little tobacco and dried cherries. This wine screamed for food. Once we threw some spaghetti at it, it was enjoyable to drink. Not a sipper by itself. Ok finish of more olive, dark fruits, and leather.
