Great wine for the money, lots of honey with enough acidity to balance out and not be cloying. Need to get another couple of these and return in a year or two.

Popped and poured. Was excited to try the Scharzhofberger after having the profound '05 Oberemmeler Hutte Kabinett from the same producer. The Scharzhofberger is pale gold in color. The nose, while subtle at first, slowly comes alive with tropical fruits and an ever so slight note of burnt petrol. The wine is somewhat of a bruiser on the palate with an overdose of sweetness that seems to develop a refreshing acidity with some air. There is a noticeable change in body after an hour or so of being opened. Initial expressiveness gives way to a more delicate mouthfeel, yet the sugar continues to dominate. Not as enchanting as the Oberemmeler Hutte but still a fine Kabinett.

More than expected from $15 Kabinett. Honey, cold fruit and a touch of oil on the nose. Tangy lime and tangerine, with a touch of cinamon and burnt rubber in the mouth. Nice transition to mineral, unctous mouthfeel. Above expectations.

Complex. Starts out very sweet, but after a few sips, a streak of mineral and light acid emerges. Pretty lengthy finish. Flavors of tropical fruit. Awfully interesting for a $17 wine.
