Sweet cherry and cola on the nose as I gaze on a darkened transparent brick red color in the glass. Just up from the 53 degree cellar with a hopeful promise of more revealed later on the nose. Tart, tight, and tangy strawberry fruit in a light bodied mouthfeel, with an initial slight metallic aspect to the peripherally felt in the mouth residual acidity, and a dry earthy flavor intertwined with the fruit that dissipates mid palate, as also does 80% of the delicate fruit. The elegant finish is devoid of all but minimal desiccated strawberry dust. This is a well made French interpretation, from chalky California soil. It is a subtle expression of Pinot Noir that I should have perhaps favored three years ago. Nonetheless I appreciate the winemaking, and I am enjoying the wine. I would respectfully welcome any recent impressions of Chalone Vineyard Pinot Noir since the new owners, Foley Family Wines, moved in. Second night: The wine is silky and smooth with a more concentrated layer of fruit unencumbered by any distractions having a sweet cherry flavor extending through a very long finish.

Liked the dried cherry fruit with a hint of raspberry. Clean red fruit nose beautiful ruby garnet color. Might have rated it 89 but bought it on sale with a 33% discount !

The color was a dark ruby red. It smelled of wintergreen mint, blackberry, and dark purple grapes. It tasted like blackberries and minerals. The flavor was very dynamic. I'm impressed that it was not very astringent even considering it's 14.5% alcohol content. Good to enjoy on its own but would be best paired with a good meal. Drank it with parrano cheese and cadbury chocolate and it worked best with the cheese.

Black tea, cola, sweet boysenberry. Silky mouthfeel. Fine tannins. In peak window.
