This is consistent with my idea of a Napa chardonnay. There is tropical fruit and light oak. It is not over the top, and it's not light or Chablis-like in any way.

A: Medium Gold N: Persimmon, orange, vanilla, pineapple, butterscotch. Medium int(?) P: Aromas confirmed. Dry, medium (+) acid, high alcohol, medium intensity and finish. Medium (+) body (that last component from memory). C: I give ticks and half ticks for length, intensity and complexity. Good Quality effort but not a style that i like. Drink now, wouldn't bother laying down.

I'd say that Sterling made an honest effort to vinify a serious Chardonnay; not one at the high end but a wine with character and complexity at a moderate price. Well, the price is more than right, particularly at a BOGO cost of $9.50 a bottle, but the wine is disjointed and out of balance. There's too much oak and not enough butter to even out the alcohol and the pineapple laden fruit. Perhaps some more bottle age will smooth things out.

Textbook commercial, corporate-driven Napa Valley Chardonnay. Everything is just perfect, the way the marketing folks like it. Golden color. Lots of fruit. Clean, if slightly sweet flavors. Well-made. Interesting that it's a world different from Rombauer, which is almost right next door. Not that the Rombauer is any better. It's all in the style, folks, it's all in the style.

Heavy oak notes. Really Rich and buttery. I may have waited too long on this one but is still pretty good.
