  • I have yet to meet a 2005 Mosel Kabinett that was one. While they are,as a class, higher in residual sugar than in most vintages, the 2005s are ready to go now. And that assessment includes the incorrect reading 6 years ago that they were open for balanced drinking. THe acid balance is now in place, with its grapefruit acid backing that matches very nicely with the fusil oil, honey, loquat and slight white pepper tastes. JJC is one of the very finest producers of auslesen that age with grace and show amazing character. The kabinetten are very nice but not as chiseled or expressive as those from Adam,Selbach, Prum or Muller. This wine has 10 years easily left.

  • Clean fruit (apples, stone fruit, touch of citrus) with pure focused acidity. Hint of petrol/rubber. Very attractive and beautiful with sashimi dinner.

  • A TINY BIT OUT OF BALANCE. STILL SHOWNG REDOLENT FRUIT BUT tHE NICE ACID BACKBONE SEEMED TO STAND SIDE BY SIDE WITH THE FRUIT. AND NOT YET DETECTINg AS MUCH URZIGER FLOWERY TASTE. WAIT FOR NEXT SITTING.

  • The 2005 kabinetts are ready! OF two today, the CHristoffel prevailed. I am a huge fan of their old auslesen but had not had such a wonderful kabinett from them before. A perfect acid/fruit balance. The 2005 vintage showed beautifully --unlike some older, less distinguished vintages of theirs. A bouquet of floral scents with tropical overtones on the nose; full finish on the palate, with no oversweet notes, no excess citrus notes but rather a nice blend of cumquat, grapefruit, mango, and light exotic fruits with medium viscosity. Start drinking now

  • STG End of Year (Roy's): nose: light petrol, dirt, lightly smoked wood (not exactly oak, just reminiscent of oak)
palate: clean, very precise, yet full of flavor. almost bursting with flavor, in fact.
