  • 13% alcohol.

Murky and quite cloudy pomegranate color with a pinkish rim. It is quite obvious that the wine was not allowed to settle as it was brought to the tasting immediately before the start. Rather wild and sruprisingly Kriek Lambic-like nose with aromas of bretty funk, sour morello cherries, some meaty tones, a little bit of brambly raspberry, light volatile notes of nail polish and a hint of raw game. The wine doesn't feel particularly aged for its age, just surprisingly funky. The wine is medium-bodied and somewhat tightly-wound on the palate with flavors of ripe dark berries, some morello cherries, a little bit of sweet nail polish VA, light notes of earthy spice, a hint of wizened plummy fruit and a metallic touch of iron. The wine is nicely high in acidity with rather firm and grippy medium tannins. The finish is rather grippy with somewhat developed and quite wild flavors of sanguine iron, crunchy cranberries, some gamey tones, a little bit of dried lingonberries and a tertiary hint of beef jerky.

A quite nice and still relatively youthful Beaune red with a surprisingly funky overall character. However, the wine seems to suffer somewhat from its cloudy overall character as all the deposit is floating in the suspension. Were this wine brought beforehand to the tasting and left to settle for a few days, I suspect it would've come across as somewhat better and perhaps slightly less funky and earthy. Now my assessment of the wine might not be as accurate as it could. So all in all: it's a good red Burgundy that is still going up; just remember to let it settle and decant it carefully! Perhaps a bit pricey for the style at 70€.

  • This was a little funky to start. They opened with some cherryand hints of vanilla. The finish was to acidic for me. It was ok with the steaks but was really not enjoyable by its self.
