Rhone style blend. These South African Shiraz’s style seems to be lacking something. Wellmade yes, but short on vision. Too expensive for the quality. Good but not great.

Tasted blind. This is a pleasant wine that charms with sweet, candied red fruit and also has meaty and gamey complexity. I like the structure of moderate acidity, juicy ripe fruit, significant tannins, and new oak. Enjoyable now but should improve with a few years age. Rating: 92
Guess the wine: My read is Grenache, likely blended with mourvedre and/or Syrah. I will go with Southern Rhone. Gigondas. 3 years old.

Lovely soft, fruit-forward wine. More red than black fruit. "A second bottle would have gone down even better" according to my friend John.
