  • Unreasonably beautiful. 10,000 rose petals per sip, over a layer of fertile soft soil.

I would have preferred to be disappointed by this wine, i do not need any more reasons to chase wines of this extraordinary price point. Alas, this is stunning.

  • Very Leroy in style with maybe slightly less power than some of her even bigger crus. Dark red fruits with expansive flavors holding just a little bit back. Not sure if the extra dimension that can kick a wine past 95 pts will ever show up here but this is a terrific wine that will make a lot of people happy.

  • RJ’s wine dinner – random wines – Krug, Salon, Leroy, Truchot, Dujac, La Turque, Chave, SQN and etc. (Mon Ami Gabi - Reston, VA): For me, the wines from Leroy have such a strong producer imprint that looking the expression of terrior is a futile exercise. For me, the wines always display intense sweet fruits, roasted nut or coffee, caramel and stewed fruits. There is also very complex and exotic Vosne spice note. Expressive decadent nose of fresh red fruits as in raspberry and ripe jammy dark fruits as in blackberry essence, also vosne spice, truffle, medium caramel, sap, earth and soy. Big scale wine with excellent concentration, sweet fruits, bright acidity and nicely integrated tannins. Both in the nose and palate, there is distinct sweet stewed tomato note. Just like the 01 Rousseau Chambertin, there is a slight hint of oxidative note at the end. This is a hedonistic expressive exotic big scale wine that is fully matured and ready to go.
I read Jeremy’s note which I think is spot on, especially “‘DRCesque’ with its scents of Hoisin and soy.” Perhaps Hoisin for a white guy=Tomato Stew for an Asian guy?

  • Unbelievable nose, just a pure expression of everything I love in Burgundy. Palate was almost perfectly balanced, as a friend said, this has a bit of stewed tomatoes in the palate but that's fine with me. What a treat!

  • Medium red in color, slight cloudiness. The nose is like a flower garden more than a wine! Very deep floral nose with perfume and potpouri, lots of spices and a little bit of tangerine peel. Medium bodied, a bit light weight at first, took 2 hours to grow in complexity, very long. A very delicate and elegant wine.
