Simply divine. The age has rounded all the rough edges. If there is any knock on this wine it is that the alcohol is starting to peek through. Drink now and enjoy with someone who appreciates aged wines.

Decanted 2 hrs. before tasting. Very deep ruby color. Nose of forest floor, pencil shavings, cooked black fruit, cola. A bit hot on the palate, with flavors of oak, currants, and mossy tones; good acid balance. Finish is relatively short, with mouth-coating tannins. This is not recognizably tempranillo, drinking much more like a zinfandel. Things slide far to the darker end of the scale in color, aromas, and flavors. It's drinkable for sure, but not particularly memorable.

Wineflock - Ribera del Duero 94-01 (Rich's): Group #3, My #8 - Medium ruby red color. Big slightly warm red cherry spice nose. Big juicy black and red cherry fruit with ripe tannins. Good structure and potential.

Flock: 1994-2001 Ribera del Duero Tasting (Chicago): Ruby in color. Tasty nose has sweet bright cherries, toast and fresh herbs. Smooth and juicy on the palate. Herbs, leafiness and chocolate add complexity. Tasted blind, the tasty fruit was deceivingly good. A nice wine. My #3, Group #3.

Smooth, but lost some of the flavor I recall. Still nice.
