La Cabotte is a 0.2104 ha section of Chevalier-Montrachet located just above Bouchard's 0.8894 ha holding of Montrachet in Puligny-Montrachet. 1st of 8 magnums purchased in 2010. Beautiful light golden color so zero signs of premox at year 18. Gorgeous nose of tropical fruits - papaya, banana and pineapple though very clean (no hints of botrytis). Perfectly balanced with a finish that really stains the palate. Delicious today, but definitely has the structure to age. Less subtle than the typical wine from Chevalier-Montrachet. In my opinion, a wine that would appeal to both Burgundy and California chardonnay aficionados.

Drank this after the "regular "Chevalier Montrachet of Bouchard which in this case showed substantially better than the Cabotte. Has some remarkable oak, buttery, remind me of wines like Cakebread Chardonnay, but less expressive, less complex.
Overall this is disappointing, both because of the quality of this great vintage and given its $400+ price tag. Not worth the money.

A Birthday Celebration (Taste 222 - Chicago IL): Small glass, brief note. Both very ripe and rich, but balanced with plenty of acidity and concentration. Plenty of apple with slightly sweet spice and some background exotic fruit. Very good length, very good now.

During a Paulee dinner, so only brief impressions. Oak, butter, not oxidative but feels very Californian.
