  • Upon opening notes of cooked meat perminate up from the glass which showed some notes of its age. Color is a rich purple with light red coming out to edge showing a slight bit of its age. Wine is very young in taste with notes of fresh blackberries. Wine should be good for another five years easily.

  • Left to open for two or three hours with just a small amount removed (audouze method). Fading on initial smell or taste but held up very nicely to hamburgers and I am looking forward to having younger Petite Syrah and Petite Sirah with burgers again soon .

  • Deep burgundy and purple color that is showing the signs of its age at the edge. Spice and game is forward on the nose. Body is incredible and this wine sings on the pallet. Finish is long and a youthful fruit jumps out of this old wine. Incredibly easy and enjoyable drinking wine. No surprise, Turley hits another home-run. This ‘98 is drinking so well right now. That said, it feels that the window on this wine (at least this bottle) is coming to an end. So drink up!

  • sweet and dark blackberry nose with plenty of bottle age and rich smokey oak notes. Excellent animal notes. Still tight. In the mouth, monolithic but vibrant with excellent acidity and fulsome tannic structure. Very long. The oak handling is subsumed into the dense and direct blackberry fruit and adds deep notes. Certainly outstanding and may develop in the next decade and possibly open up With air, the wine's fruit became sweeter and the tannic nature of the wine morphed into a satiny texture. At any rate, a wine of intense interest.
