Deep inky colour. Oak has integrated nicely. Held up very well in a half bottle over a couple of days. This has the structure to go on for quite a few years jet. Only downside for me were the slightly drying tannins on the finish.
Wow! This is a great wine! Popped, decanted and poured. Tannins calmed down a bit after and hour or so. This deep dark glass staining wine showed dark berries and spice on the nose; then powerful, extracted dark cherries, plum, mocha, and toasted almonds on the palate. Tannins support a long finish. This is very well balanced! Actually, this wine has a Cali cab profile that I like very much!
Opened, filtered, decanted for 1 hour. Cork completely fell apart but not corked. Tons of sediment. Palate of sweet blackberries, chocolate, mocha, spice and vanilla. Dense but very refreshing. Long finish of black fruits and spices. Velvety tannins. Wonderful. Tasted at our vertical of '04-'09 and it was the winner by all but one person who thought the "07 was better.
This is the last bottle of six of the 2004 and 2005 I have enjoyed over the last 5+ years. All were very enjoyable, powerful, and rich. Decanted this for an hour and enjoyed with grilled fajitas. Full body, very dark, opaque, inky purple. Opens with aromas and flavors of sweet blackberries, toasty vanilla, smoky blueberries, spicy black plum, dark coffee, chocolate, licorice, and some evolving earth tones. Excellent structure, richness, and complexity with tannins that are fairly well integrated. Big, long finish. This wine can easily go another ten or so years. Wish I had more.
