We love a well-aged pinot noir like this one. Just requires patience. It is rare for us to open an older W-S pinot that hasn't aged well. This 2001 has a nice light medium red color, a floral, cherry aroma, plenty of fruit on the palate. All nicely in balance with a smooth medium length fruit finish. Went well with pan roasted chicken breast in mushroom sauce.

Despite being well beyond the drinking window, this bottle held up very well. No sediment and still fairly bright color. Classic cherry/berry fruit and nicely mellow. It was an excellent accompaniment to a multi-course that ranged from octopus to venison with blackberries - especially good with the latter.

Nice medium to light red color. Not much sign of age in the way of bricking, but perhaps shows in its lightish color. Somewhat aromatically challenged. Palate was thinner than expected. Kind of watery with not much of any fruit nor secondary flavors or aromas. Left uncorked overnight and it was surprisingly better the next evening. Definitely more nose and flavor. Some dried berry with a touch of au jus on the nose. Palate provided some light red berry fruit and some asian spice. I would say this wine was better 2 or 3 years ago, but since it improved significantly with air, perhaps this wine could have evolved further with more bottle age. We'll never know, as this was our last bottle.
