A nice bottle-aged softness gives this wine more allure than I suspect it had early on in its life. A medium-bodied, relatively new world syrah. There's a fair amount of structure to this wine (acidity, tannins). If the fruit were to hold up, and I don't know that it will, this could go for some time.

Dark red color, with heavy sediment. Nose gives much roasted character, burned berries, twigs in fire pit, an odd camphor "tiger balm" pitch. On entry, it's a medium-bodied, and a foursquare ripe red in New World style; decently fruited but unremarkable in any particular way. A little tiring to drink without food, due to a rush of tannin at the end. Goes well with spicy pizza, sausage & peppers, eggplant and garlic. Bottle #3 of three.

Very heavy and plummy. Not what I expected at all, especially from Tablas Creek. Still, a much better wine than the 2003, but not a style I'm interested in.

Rich, chocolate, spice with a nice touch of fading fruit, this Syrah is a joy to drink on its own. It is tasting well and may soon be past its peak, but it is certainly there now!
