Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 87.8 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 17 notes)

Tasted by Pseudonymously on 3/16/2009 & rated 89 points: at it's peak right now IMO, not to floral, very dry finish. (255 views)
Tasted by aubsdad on 7/12/2008 & rated 87 points: Good nose with low alcohol smell. Upon drinking, was drier than expected. Fruit was not as prominent as other reports. May be past prime. (303 views)
Tasted by the godfather on 6/8/2008 & rated 89 points: solid, fruity, and pleasant (433 views)
Tasted by tskrueger on 8/2/2007 flawed bottle: Just tastes off...Vinegary. (717 views)
Tasted by charliesea on 3/26/2007 & rated 89 points: rich, stone fruit with tang enough to hang with creamy italian dinner! (966 views)
Tasted by dfeiner on 3/26/2007 & rated 90 points: (759 views)
Tasted by VegasTony on 3/4/2007 & rated 86 points: Shows a very enchanting nose, if somewhat muted. The palate, while excellent up front, is ruined toward the finish by intrusive alcoholic flavors and heat, even though served quite cool. If it had only 12-13% alcohol, this wine would no doubt score in the low to mid 90's. (1045 views)
Tasted by keithgg on 3/3/2007 & rated 89 points: (802 views)
Tasted by rmodak on 2/19/2007 & rated 86 points: Honeysuckle on the nose with lean peach, lanolin, and a harsh dose of minerals. Seemed somewhat out of balance with intrusive alcoholic notes on the finish. (1041 views)
Tasted by Rangstrom on 2/13/2007 & rated 74 points: Tasted like an ersatz-wine blended in the lab from random chemicals and cheap vodka. No fruits, little acidity, short brutish finish of thinnish alcohol. Good color and aromas along with some minerality are the only redeeming features. If it is a flawed bottle, I'm not sure what the flaw would be. Not up to the usual standards for Tablas Creek. (1073 views)
Tasted by MarkC on 1/10/2007 & rated 90 points: Great nose and flavor of peaches, melon, apricot, and floral notes. Good acidity - tasted best when served around 50 degrees. Too bad this was my only bottle! (1217 views)

Tasted by win on 10/14/2006 & rated 90 points: Blind Birthday Tasting (Win's House - Texas): Very pleasant wine that had just the right amount of sweetness and acidity. (1867 views)
Tasted by wineismylife on 10/14/2006 & rated 87 points: win's 40th Birthday Party (win's house in The Colony, TX): WIML87,WA92,NOWS

Tasted October 14, 2006 at win’s 40th birthday party. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel restaurant series white wine glass. Straw to light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose was muted with notes of citrus fruits and a base of minerality. Mineral dominated on the palate. Light acidity with matching body. I suspect this bottle has been open a while or just not showing as well as I would have expected. (1889 views)
Tasted by bstump on 9/25/2006 & rated 90 points: Served at cellar temperature. Beautiful nose of peaches and honeysuckle. The fruit comes through on the taste and is followed by a long and creamy finish that coated my mouth. The alcohol is not apparent and the acidity leaves behind a memory of crispness. (1432 views)
Tasted by lbrent on 9/23/2006 & rated 88 points: Honeysuckle on nose with dirty melon on palate. Very nice and not too hot on finish with good chill. (1365 views)

Producer website
Tablas Creek Vineyard, founded by the Perrin family of Chateau de Beaucastel and Robert Haas of Vineyard Brands, is dedicated to growing grape varieties traditional to France's Rhone Valley. The partners chose hilly western Paso Robles for its limestone soils, rugged terrain, and ocean influence. All Tablas Creek wines are estate grown using environmentally sustainable practices.

California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in almost 10 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
