| | Tasted by Eric on 1/1/2010 & rated 95 points: Rather fantastic showing. Oak has started to integrate. Deep, pure, luscious Cabernet. Textbook Pride, hint of brown sugar, fantastic structure, dark, brooding flavors and some bitter chocolate. Gorgeous. (505 views) |

| | Tasted by Mrbuzz on 11/28/2009 & rated 95 points: Now it's my second daughter's bday turn....born in 2002...a worthy wine! This is classic Pride Mtn....dark crushed blackberry, black cherry fruit...mocha, vanilla bean spice, dusty cedar, toasted vanilla oak barrel, slight green tobacco nuance. Still pretty tannic...has a little VA fume on the nose...but the flavors are layered, tasty, and in classic Pride Mtn style. Glorious wine....in no need to hurry. (639 views) |

| | Tasted by Share 67 on 10/10/2009 & rated 98 points: What an incredible bottle of wine. This was the hit of the dinner party. You talk about layers upon layers of perfectly balanced fruit and tannins. Red velvet comes to mind. The hint of mint and butterscotch were definitely present along with a whiff of creme de casis. The chocolate on the nose and mouth was more of a milk chocolate but was velvety smooth like a mousse. I put this wine right there with the 2002 Hillside Select. What a fabulous vintage and kudos to Bob Foley on this offering. Cheers (923 views) |
| | Tasted by Veraison on 8/1/2009: Deeply colored. Red currant fruit with a touch of mint and pain grille on the nose. Rich sweet red berry fruit attack then some fine grained tannin and a touch of charcoal. Pretty good, but a little short of awesome. I think I liked this better younger. (1225 views) |

| | Tasted by Veraison on 7/3/2009: Sweet nose of melon red currant. Full bodied bright red currant fruit touches of oak and mint. Interesting. A little bit lighter and less intense than I was expecting, but good. (1219 views) |
| | Tasted by A&C on 4/17/2009 & rated 98 points: Wow. No -- Holy Sh*$. This is truly a great wine. Decanted for 3 hours given its young age. This wine kicked off a large amount of sediment. That aside, WOW. Initially, I thought: "where is the nose." The answer came with time in the glass. This wine is unbelievable. A huge -- repeat HUGE -- palate, and a nice nose. There is everything here -- big Cali Cab fruit, vanilla, and yes, butterscotch. I love that little butterscotch floatin in the air. Deeeeeeppppp. Biiiiiiiggggg. And lingering -- loooong finish. Yes, it hangs around for awhile. It paired PERFECTLY with home-made Moraccan meat balls -- heavy on middle eastern spice. The fat of the lamb and the mix of the spices in the meat balls were a perfect pairing for this Cali Cab BEAST. This wine really SINGS with time. The BEST bottle of wine I've had in the last TWO months, and I drink a lot of goooooood wine -- probably too much. This is still a very, very young wine, with some big tannins, but now it is a wow. In 10 years, it is an unbelievable huge WOW. Enjoy. Reaffirms my belief in Pride as a winery. Thank God for Great Wine. It made my week. (1533 views) |
| | Tasted by WetRock on 2/18/2009: Dinner at Prime Cut Cafe (Prime Cut Cafe): Chocolate. Oh and chocolate with maybe some charred coffee beans. Much like fat buttery Chards this style of Cab is getting more lost on me by the day. I can see where the thick sweet fruit will keep people from being bothered by those annoying cassis, tobacco and cedar notes that mark good Cabernet but I like those notes. (1592 views) |
| | Tasted by Harry Cantrell on 1/30/2009 & rated 95 points: Deep garnet. Nose was smooth, mellow, but all encompassing. It screamed Bob Foley. Taste was amazingly mellow, rich, balanced, black fruits, spices. Reminds me of Abreu. (1669 views) |

| | Tasted by BordeauxNut on 8/23/2008 & rated 95 points: Saturday Club -- August 23, 2008 (Mike Brown's Claymont Corner Deli): Ah... now that's better. Still very grapey, primary nose -- some blue/blackberry cobbler. Huge wine -- but holding everything in balance. Silky, smooth, and long. This wine has a great mouthfeel. If the aromatics don't evolve toward pruniness, this will be an even better wine in a few years. Great juice in the bigger-is-better mold. (1963 views) |
| | Tasted by MarkC on 7/5/2008 & rated 94 points: Definitely a tasty wine. I could have guzzled it from a pure enjoyment perspective, but when I put on my critical thinking cap (after the bottle is gone, of course) I have to confess that it falls a little short of extraordinary. Rich, lush fruit, and plenty of backbone (necessary given the fruit) but it comes across a bit simple relative to the best Cabs from California. Don't get me wrong--I loved drinking this as did my wife, and we went through it quickly, something that happens on only the occasional bottle--but it's missing some of the structure and nuance necessary to push it higher. | | Tasted by WVWine on 2/16/2008 & rated 95 points: Dark, Dark almost black in color. Starts off with smells of licorce. Smotth taste in the mouth that lastes 30 to 40 seconds. Over time, smeills change to carmel and vanilla. (2643 views) |

| | Tasted by hcampana on 6/17/2007 & rated 100 points: Had at Tapalpa, Jalisco, Mexico
Tapalpa is a rather unknown, but nevertheless beautiful, little town in the sierra called Los Altos de Jalisco. A mini version of Cuzco, Peru, this was the perfect setting for me and my girlfriend to have a great weekend and enjoy a great picnic. Outside of Tapalpa is a very beautiful albeit odd tourist attraction called Las Piedrotas ("the huge rocks"). This is the setting I chose to propose to my girlfriend after a relaxing, romantic picnic amidst one of the hardest rain/hail storms I have ever witnessed. Luckily, we were under one of the huge cavern like rocks that shielded us from the rain. I will never forget this 2002 Pride Reserve Cab.
Inky colored, full of black fruits, concentrated flavors, intense flavors and a great, long finish, this wine, together with the breathtaking scenery and abundantly diverse wildlife, was one additional proof of God's existence. 96 points for the wine characteriustics + 4 points for her saying: YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! Very dark ruby color. The nose was georgeous, offering caramel, red and black fruits and vanilla. The palate offered a greatly textured, full bodied wine that is intensely flavored, long and ripe. An exotic bomb shell and a tribute to the Bob Foley style. My and 3 others' WOTN. (3469 views) |
| | Tasted by phenricsson on 3/2/2007 & rated 99 points: 90;81. Not quite the best bottle of this we’ve had. A bit less flamboyant than previous but still very sweet and luscious. Nose of sweet black currants, roasted citrus, powdery brown sugar and Asian spices. Mouth feel was big, lively, spicy and with a great acid to cut the huge sweetness. Good balance, a few comments suggested it would be better if more muscular to counter the fruit. On the palate it was very sweet and delicious. Huge aftertaste with violets, black currants, anise and vanilla. Delicious! 99p (2673 views) |
