Honey colored. Initial nose was rich with maple tone. Rapidly muted. Very sugar laced at this point. No oak or butter left. Clearly past its prime but still tolerable

I recently found 6 bottles of this wine where it had been hiding in my 55 degree cellar since I got it from the winery. It was hard for me to believe that the wine was still good. It clearly needs to be drunk, but the nose is fresh and buttery with a mix of clove, citrus, and flowers in the mouth. The finish is long and not harsh.
I sent the winery a note. There are 5 more of these. If only 1 or 2 are in this condition, we are truly fortunate.
Thank you Pahlmeyer.

Took my last bottle of the 2002 to dinner with Cathy at Seasons 52 on Miracle Mile, Gables ($15 corkage). Very good showing. Went well with my diver scallops and Cathy's Atlantic char. Nice oaky Cali chard

Brought to wine group dinner at Two Chefs. What surprised me most was that even though this was a nine-year-old Cali chardonnay, it still has lots of life ahead of it. In fact, I need ti remember to decant the next bottle I drink. The other interesting note from last night -- we do a double blind format -- was that among nine experienced tasters, no one thought this was a chardonnay until late in the evening after the wine has been in a glass for hours. Most initially guessed it it was a Rhone wine. This held its own with a very good 2002 Leeuwin Estate Art Series chardonnay that Mark brought

Gorgeous aged California Chardonnay with generous nose and a nice buttery palate.
