Last bottle and quite delicious! Fresher than the last one. Integrated, complex and a great accompaniment to pan seared quail. If you have this wine drink it soon.

At peak but holding. A little less fresh than the last bottle (but that was 6 years ago). Still with notes of black fruit and chocolate and a lingering aftertaste. Nothing to gain with further age so drink soon.

The 1988 Jean Grivot Clos Vougeot was a pleasant surprise as I wouldn’t have expected such transparency and neatness in Grivot wines from that era. (I seldomly rate Grivot wines before 2011). Tasted blind – Fully mature profile of saturated cherry, dried meat and forest floor. Tertiary yet clean with fine grained tannins. 1988? Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru? (89/100)

Musique & Vin Festival BYO Dinner with Musicians (1243 Bourgogne Society - Beaune): Small glass. Another of tonight's 1988s that has finally come around, with structure sufficiently softened and the fruit still (almost) front-and-center. Lots to enjoy, although probably best to do so over the next 5 years.

Very musky, herbal and green on the palate. There was still fruit in the back palate.
