2019 Domaine des Malandes at Dear Margaret (Chicago, IL): There's probably a hint of whole cluster here, given the aromatics involved in this wine. The nose is where it's at here, with that beautiful crunchy red fruit character. The palate is a little thinner than I'd like; perhaps the vintage, perhaps the appellation, but this is quintessential easy-drinking Burgundy. My first experience with this producer; I think I do understand some of the hype behind it, and I'd love to try more of these.

Really quite nice tonight with lots of bright, earthy, dark red fruit, slightly brambly sous bois notes, baking spice undertones and a firm minerality throughout. There’s also good depth and concentration for its level.

Blind Pinot Noir Tasting (Landmarc@the Time Warner Center - NYC): Easily the lightest of the 5 Pinots we had. And the only one that no one voted as their favorite. It was also tied for the least expensive wine of the night. On its own, it tasted too acidic. But with food, it worked really well.

I really like these high acid 2014s by Dureuil-Janthial. This has enough black cherry fruit to support acidity.

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. All red fruit, light and elegant, slightly shut down, but with a bright finish. 88+ point potential, better 2020 forward.
