As those who are as long in the tooth as I am are fond of saying, "at some point it's not the vintage but the bottle." Found this in a far corner of my cellar and assumed the worse. Gave it a few minutes to wake up and wow. A sweet, rich, smooth come hither varnish nose. In the mouth, intense black cherry soaked in subtle petit sirah-like camphor. The aroma now fresh like Muir Woods after a good soak. Planned on making my wife salmon for dinner, but switched to a well dry-aged steak. Cellar Tracker says there's one more of these buried somewhere in the deep recesses of my home cellar. Worth putting on boots and a miner's hat to find.

Disappointment. Was good, but clearly over the hill. Little fruit left, dry on the finish. Was smooth, good mouth feel, decent nose of berry, dust and spice.

NJ Pinot Noir Tasting - June 21st OFFLINE - took place on July 22nd (New Jersey): This bottle just did not do it for me. Very light nose with hints of raspberry and cherry. Berries on the palate, but nothing stood out. I have a feeling this wine may have had some poor storage conditions, because we usually love the Cohn.

Still drinking well but I wouldn't wait much longer. I really dislike the wax over the cork! Sure glad they got rid of it in later vintages.
