The Bouchard Grand Vin de l'Enfant Jesus, Beaune Greves Premier Cru, was probably more affected by the winemaking at Bouchard at the time than by the year (I have had an excellent 1995 from Simon Bize). Upon opening, some funky bouquet, most of which disappeared over the next two hours. Fairly smooth, tannins resolved, but thinner and more acidic than one would expect of a Greves, not nearly as pleasant as the premier crus from Albert Morot, this wine lacks fruit and balance. It is not an unpleasant wine with food, but it is not a great one .... and it should be. After Henriot took over in 1995, things improved.
