Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Bottle fill and cork all good. This wine was carefully decanted and came out of the bottle dark and somewhat dull, it brightened somewhat with a few hours in the decanter, but remained sullen and uninteresting. A big wine with considerable tannin, it failed to gain interest maintaining a bullion, underbrush character. It seemed like a typical old school brunello in that it was dull at the start waiting blossom and improve with air - it did not. Faint leather and cherries emerged, but really not much going on. Not bad with a chicken cacciatore, but failed to inspire. A disappointment from a good traditional maker in what is supposed to be a great vintage.
