Community Tasting Notes (7) Avg Score: 91.1 points

  • Drank during Cornerstone Provenance Night Event with more than 30 wines tasting. Did not have enough time to take down notes and didn’t have proper wine glasses. In general, the wines are still drinking fine and have characteristics of old vintage wine; forest floor, some barnyard, spices, tea, hawthorn, toast. I only managed to use my own personal score to rate the wine.

  • It could not quite keep up with its exquisite flight mates (the 1961 and 1962 Ducrus) and it was a bit wobbly out of the blocks, but really picked itself up, displaying myriad tertiary notes of autumn leaves, library books and other delights, it was a beautifully poised and elegant wine; it firmed up and came on strong at the end of the evening. Good mature bottles of Ducru are such a treat, and when you encounter one you understand why Ducru is sometimes referred to as the ‘Lafite of St-Julien’

  • Dark ruby with garnet rims. A vegetal and developed/tired nose. Herbaceous and green. The colour is much darker than the nose suggests, as one suggests 90s the other 70s. The was a great experience, but not a great wine. Its past its peak for me. Shared by me to SH for his birthday

  • Dinner at home to celebrate Esh’s birthday, dark red, the acidity really holds the structure up, everything you want from an aged Bordeaux, perfect with the steaks, a lovely mature Bordeaux

  • Dinner at Da Paolo Bistro. Did not decant given age of wine. Mid garnet. Aromas of mushroom and forest floor. Soft rounded tannins, fully evolved. Fruit still intact but a little lean on the palate. Put on weight after some exposure to air. Acidity somewhat high. Short finish. Not much complexity noted. Interesting old Bordeaux but not the best I had from that decade.
