The cork was toast so the wine has probably declined a bit from its original taste. That being said, the wine was still a deep shade of red with a Burgundian barnyard aroma. Medium body with blackberries the most pronounced flavor. Not much of a finish but the wine rolls across the tongue tastefully. Definitely time to drink this pinot!
I opened this given how much I enjoyed its 1995 counterpart a few days earlier. Cork depressed, slight signs of seepage. I will give the wine the benefit of the doubt and consider it flawed through oxidation. Very subtle, mostly faded with cherry, strawberry hints and not much interesting earthy evolution.
