Route 66 - Bordeaux Exploration (Vaucluse Townhouse): Pomerol D: This was a fun wine - had a bit of those slightly sour fruit notes that I find interesting in white. Also very fresh and pretty. Showing a bit of its age, but in a good way. Lots of red fruit. A bit lighter than some of the others which creates more of an elegant feel. Very enjoyable.

What a fresh bottle. Fully resolved tannins and structure, earthy/cedary with nice plummy fruit tones still there. Silky texture but with good density on the palate. Vibrant enough that it was so easy and delicious to drink. Not a profound wine, but nonetheless a very nice bottle that's drinking beautifully.

Marvelous showing of this wine. Perfectly mature nose of coffee, pine needles, black currant marmalade and beginning cow stable. Medium bodied with a youthful grip on the palate. I would probably have guessed 1980's blind.
