tempranillo and mourvedre. getting a little tired but still of interest. just starting to lack that real verve. this actually did better with a little air, and less well with food.

Good fill. Dusty, richly fruited berry and herb nose with barely any hint of oxidation. Very nice aromatics. Big, bright, fresh palate. Silky sweet cherry fruit with tangy acidity combine to make a jubilant and succulent old wine. Gorgeous!

Mature, but not weak by any stretch. Holding on, and even interesting. Strong fruit that seemed to get better over time. Amazingly youthful wine and very enjoyable.

Turning 50; a few 1961s (Scott & Kates; Redwood City, CA): The bottle was in excellent, almost new condition. The cork looked new, so I suspect this was a reconditioned bottle. Milky, earthy, dusty and slightly stalky. Very nice, but I was expecting more.
