I had this wine ten years ago and it was totally shut down. It’s in a better place now but still needs more time. The nose is stingy and the palate is very subtle. Light bodied with a long finish. Hard to believe this is 24 years old!

Good Times in Seattle vol.II (84 Yesler, Seattle WA): Where the 96 was a bit dried out, this was deep and rusticly expressive with tones of dust, licorice, spice notes, red cherries, cranberries, raspberries, iodine, violets, leather, and earth notes. This was a nose that could only be Burgundy as it wafts and emits from the glass. The Medium bodied feel has that bit of rusticity to be a bit wild, but in a more light-heavyweight build. The crisp, medium+ acidity is beautifully integrated and fresh along with silky, medium+ tannins. The structure is resolving as it still shows its presence, but this is really in a zone as it sails into its 20s.

This is in such a great place. This shows layers of intense dark fruit on the nose and palate. The structure has receded and softened (but not disappeared), while the fruit and non-fruit flavors have fanned out to create a mouth-filling, textured wine that is just on the precipice of maturity. This isn't particularly grand, but it's very good and eminently satisfying. Will improve further over the next decade at least.

What a great wine! Dark fruits and well structured. I'm not sure if it will get any better. Frankly, I'm not sure it needs to get better.
