This was the oldest Zinfandel I've ever had and it was holding up without any problem and the bottle had been opened about three hours. There was a bit of volatile acidity, but it didn't detract at all. It added to the perfumed, red fruited nose. Very unique and lighter in body than most of it's modern brethren.
Tasted double blind. Aromas of red fruit with a subtle stewed quality. Flavors of tart cherry and red fruit, with good length on the finish. There was a very slight soy quality which kept the score down, otherwise very nice. Ended up in the same flight, right next to the 1994.
