Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 93 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 2 notes)

Tasted by syrahlvr on 4/23/2005 & rated 92 points: Bought from K&L for $30 and a hell of a price for this wine. Definately not a young pup but still very much alive. Nice weight on the palate with good density showing soy/earth and totally resolved tannins. Probably good for another 3-5 years so drink up. Tasty. (2023 views)
Tasted by bacchus on 1/1/2000 & rated 94 points: i am annotating my lifetime with wine. unfortunately, i never kept a cellar book. therefore, i cannot offer detailed description of this bottle other than to say it was worth every one of the 94 points spectator gave it. if only we could have wine of this quality and at this price level in today's market. the back label speaks of "rich, ruby color, full body and a distinguished fruit flavor. the '74 wine has a more pronounced varietal aroma than the '73. its distinctive fruitiness is the result of an unusual growing season in the napa valley- a cooler, longer summer, followed by warmer days in late september and early october. they thought the wine would live for six years. if only we could bring back the good old days. California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in almost 10 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
