  • The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, black currant (cassis) and forest floor. It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis), lead pencil and forest floor. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity. Initially tannins did not seem integrated but after 1 hour decant, smoothed out a lot to a nice balance

  • Purple in the middle but edges are ruby, they are just barely starting to show a little browning.
I haven’t tasted this in 2 1/2 years so interested to see where it’s at.

Nose is a beautiful hazy perfume, floral, dense blue red black berries, licorice, cedar, fresh gravel, graphite, and sweet tobacco. A strong hazy menthol anise/sage. The nose is 98/100 one of the best

It’s dry but integration is beginning, light body, and the dark chewy finish lasts for a long time. Darker heavier qualities come out on the palate: cigar smoke, black licorice, black tea, coffee, cacao.

As it begins to open up the fruit hits on the front end, but is followed by a bitter finish, not quite in balance but it could be there in the future. With more time the mouthfeel gets a little creamier, softer, and the fruit diminishes while more of the background characteristics begin to show.

Powerful wine with a very long life ahead, I don’t think this has entered its prime yet and could drink until 2040. The tannins continue to integrate as I approach 2 hours since decanting, substantially improving and showing what is to come. With more balance this wine really starts to show promise.

I look forward to trying this again, no earlier than 2025

  • Dark purp, floral earthy vanilla burnt oak nose, condensed fruit, good tannin, black and blueberry that are still a bit green, complex layered and cacao in the finish. A little tight but it is excellent. Lavender, baking spices, a bell pepper/peppercorn finish. A bit acidic. There is still so much going on here, it can lay down a few more years. Still really good
