We bought a case October 2019 based on two bottles, and it was a go-to simple Spanish wine. But now, this last bottle was fizzy and harsh, making me wonder about the remaining 3 bottles

Aromas of raspberry, grilled herbs, sour cherry and earth. Flavors of raspberry, herbs, cherry, currant and earth. Ends with a 25+ second finish with earth and olive notes. An interesting wine, not quite as good as the last time I had it.

You can’t beat this wine as value for money. Deeply rich and flavourful. Cassis big time. Tanins are balanced which helps with the fruit of the wine. My only knock is that smoke is bit more prominent than it needs ... as if it masking something it doesn’t need to. Still — look st the price? You can’t go wrong.

Seymour Wine Club Meeting 2/9/19 (Home of the Alapatt's): Tasted blind. Aromas of currant, blackberry, roasted herb, olive and balsamic. Flavors of cherry, roasted herbs, olive and something like game. Ends with a big finish with cherry and herb notes that lasts about 40 seconds. The shock of the night. I had this pegged for a Chateauneuf-du-pape but I should have known better. The flavor profile didn't really match. The few Mencia's I have had were very earthy and I found unpleasant but this was quite good. I gave this 94 points and it was the wine of the night!

Aromatic nose of cocoa, oak, rubber, black cherry, blueberry and grapefruit. Flavourful and juicy palate; bright acidity; toasty finish.
4/5
