Burg Dinner with Friends (Puligny-Montrachet): Still just a baby with lots of fresh red fruit, fresh herbs and sweet spice. This is a large-scaled wine that is easy to enjoy, but I think has barely scratched the surface for its potential. Served alongside Jean Gros 1988 Richebourg, which was a fascinating contrast.
Another funky bottle. The nose was closed and very dirty and musty. This did not blow off. It was not corked. The palate was much better with ripe red and black fruit and lovely spice. Still, I am looking for the full experience with this wine.
Sweet fruit and sap on the nose. Sweet dark raisin and light spice on the palate with a somewhat distracting sweetness. Personally I would like a little more earth and acid. Would give this wine a few more years yet.
Popped and poured. Ripe red berry and cherry aromas with enticing baking spice. Lots of power and pleasure throughout. Long and dense. this is charming now with further potential for improvement going forward.

(Leroy Vosne Romanee Les Beauxmonts.) no slouch either, but it seemed a lot more mature than its 1993 counterpart. The wine was a bit more fruit forward but showed none of the .1990 disease. to which Allen likes to refer regarding those 1990s that are starting to become stewed
