  • OMG. Possibly the best QPR I’ve ever experienced. I bought this wine at a good price, thinking that I was taking a chance on a likely-to-be overaged wine. Boy was that expectation wrong. Brick color with fully brown edges. Flavorful, complex, and delicious.

Nose has toffee, savory notes, prunes, sweet baking spices, and nutmeg. Palate is rich and mouthcoating. Acidity is poised and carries this wine to a very long finish. Caramel, espresso, savory herb notes, eucalyptus, some lingering red fruit, baking spices, something edgy and smoky, and a massive (and delicious) licorice round out this wine. Finish just goes on and on.

This wine probably wasn’t intended for drinking after 14 years. The fact that it’s this enjoyable, this hedonistic and delicious, speaks well for the vineyard and the winemaker.

  • Black cherry and a bit of petrol on the nose. Nice mouth feel...smooth but finishes a bit hot and disjointed. Drank with BBQ...good pairing.

  • Pours very dark, almost brooding, but ... there's lots of fruit (dark cherry), a hint of vanilla and some earth on the nose and it continues on the palate. It went very well with the grilled boneless pork with BBQ rub on it. Very balanced and enjoyable ... wish I had more!!

  • This wine is really hitting it's stride now. A huge blast of black cherry on the nose with earth and mineral following close behind. Finishes with some bitter orange peel. Palate is well balanced and the tannins are smooth. Deeply colored bowl with a red-orange rim. I'll make dinner plans for my last bottle.
