The 1952 Brane Cantenac shows a low-key nose, but if it’s not voluminous or effusive, it certainly is serious, stern, and complex. Griotte cherry, charcoal, rose, and tobacco fill out the nose and palate. The tannins have certainly integrated here, if they aren’t exactly silky. A little austere, but with plenty of appeal.

What a thrill ride this bottle was. First glass was simply amazing to drink. Then, according to some, the wine rapidly fell off. I urged patience, and about an hour and a half in it came back up with a glorious perfume. If your still holding some, enjoy the rollercoaster of sensations that this wine brings!

Opened and decanted due to the cork breaking while extracting. Pretty floral nose. Fruit left about 30 years ago. Smoke, charcoal, some wateriness and forest notes. However, it started to get worse and I abandoned the glass.
