Slight amber rim while still mostly dark. Dark dark aromas. Plums and charred beef with some freshly cracked black pepper. More mellow than the nose suggests. Jucy, spicy and sexy. Waxy. Super long. At first I thought past prime but woke up fast.

Starting from our notes in aug -17: colour same, bq has more of medicinal herbs, as well as sweeter, jammier fruit - Rhone simile no longer applies. Body fruit more jammy (cloudberries?) and slightly receding - alcohol more noticeeable now. Still long aftertaste, still a great Zin, but if we had more bottles, we'd drink them soon.

It's fascinating to me to see 41% of the Community Holdings in this wine is "In Cellars"; this says a lot about Turley Zins from the turn of this century.
This wine was an amazing example of Zin's potential. Consumed with bleu cheese, and a meatball sandwich drenched in red pepper marinara, the balance of fruit, tannins, and acidity made for a perfect meal. I would not have believed this wine was 18 years old. Because of its age and quality, this is the highest numerical rating I've made to date.

This is still holding on and developing some nice aged zin flavors.
