  • Opened and poured, this wine showed well for its very earthy, autumn aromatics and mature palate. The bouquet shows aromatics of earth, tea, dried leaf and spice with underlying mature fruit notes. The aromatics are complex and detailed but focus more on the earthy, leaf, truffle and spice spectrum than fruit notes. The color is a tarnished medium ruby that is appropriate for the wines age. The medium bodied palate shows good overall balance with subtle tannins on the medium length finish. The palate, like the bouquet, focuses more on earth, leaf notes with only subtle underlying mature fruit. Based on previous experiences with this producer, this is at or around it peak and should continue to drink well for many years.

  • This was a replacement bottle for the corked one that I returned to the store. Much better this time around. Having not had this producer before, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was told that they are very traditionally styled and that certainly comes across in the wine which has a really nice earthy quality to it both on the nose and palate with some iron and stony minerality on the finish.. There also seems to be a bit of a floral or lavender note on the nose. On the light side of medium-bodied and shows just a slight bit of bricking at the rim. Slightly tart cherry fruit mixes in well.

  • Rob contribution. Opened and decanted (30-45min). Dark ruby in color. Wonderful elegant nose of rose petals and spices. And a developed balanced palate, with cheery notes and good mineral earthiness. There is a freshness and forwardness to the wine, with a light but good finish.

It was definitely wine of the night, and for me, wine of the month for sure. I don't sense how the wine is going to improve with more aging. I suspect that the wine is at its peak, and a very enjoyable peak at that.
