Not good, something wrong. Looks perfect in the glass, bright clear ruby colour, no cork, decent nose / bouquet, but palate is totally thin and astringent and austere like questionable Nebbiolo. No technical flaws just so much astringent acid. Three bottle lot, first was horribly corked, this one is thin and bizarre and unpleasant… are these just not good? Would anyone bother faking this? Bottles look amazingly perfect, too perfect?

The 1988 Ruchottes-Chambertin was in a weird state, with faded fruit but gobs of tertiary, earthy aromas that didn't feel tired at all, instead coming on a bit strong.

Alive with freshness of mint and cedar spices. Acids were mouthwatering with a savory quality to it. Delicious.
