Lovely purity and finesse in terms of aroma and silky texture along with beautiful ripe dark cherry and a hint of vanilla. Very carefully crafted wine. That said, it has little complexity and lacks the verve and earthiness I hope for in high end pinot noir.

Opened for Easter dinner, but it was so bitter and austere I though the bottle was bad and went to the Kosta Brown. Tried the Sea Smoke again today and it was better and more open, but still very alcoholy. The nose is lovely and the mouth feel weighty, but it is hot with still a touch of the bitter. Very disappointing.

Still fresh and fruit driven with cinnamon and dark fruit. Serve with some chill as it will emit some booziness as it warms. As for a drink window, no hurry. Seems to be doing just fine and drinks more like a wine that is 4 years younger, like a 2005 or 2006.

Hearty Burgundy vs Black Pinot (Zio Fraedos): rich ripe fruit bomb with some complexity, an interesting licorice flavor in there somewhere. Big wine.
