Decanted for 20 minutes to open and warm from fridge. This is Hilt's entry level Chardonnay, and it was not very impressive. We appreciate lemon and mineral inflected Chardonnay with good acidity as being quite food friendly, but the acidity in this wine was just too aggressive to make the heavy lemon notes, and the moderate minerality, enjoyable. Has the fruit faded at only 6 years old? A relative steal at $27 retail, but disappointing. Will try the 2015 Vanguard soon and compare notes.

Lovely chard with notes of pear, yogurt spice. Med-acid. Tensity in mid-palate. Very restrained and Burgundian.

12/30/2017 - gkpaoli Does not like this wine:
Yellow hue, tart, citrus curd, lemon meringue pie, buttery. Not something I enjoyed.
